UALink Makes a Big Splash at AI Infra Summit 2025

2 min read

The UALink Consortium was proud to support the AI Infra Summit 2025, held from September 9-11 in Santa Clara, California, as a Gold sponsor. The Summit brought together leading experts and innovators to discuss the infrastructure powering today’s AI workloads—with UALink taking center stage in many of those conversations.

UALink on Stage: Driving the Future of AI

A highlight of the event was the technical deep-dive panel on the UALink 200G 1.0 Specification in front of a standing-room-only crowd. The strong turnout reflected the growing excitement around UALink.

Moderated by Peter Onufryk (Intel), the panel featured Nafea Bshara (AWS), Amber Huffman (Google), and Gaya Nagarajan (Meta), who shared insights into the benefits of UALink and how their companies are supporting the Consortium and the ongoing development of UALink technology. The discussion generated thoughtful questions and highlighted the collaborative momentum for an open standard for AI scale-up networking.

Below are some of the key quotes that came out of the discussion:

  • “Scale-up is becoming an extremely important variable in AI data center performance. We are committed to enabling and exploring all relevant technologies to deliver extremely low latency, high bandwidth and reliable solutions to support the new demanding workloads.  As our requirements evolve, we continuously evaluate and adopt the best available technologies to ensure our infrastructure empowers the business and drives innovation.” – Gaya Nagaraja (Meta)

  • “Similar to other efforts in the industry like NVMe technology, UALink has disaggregated AI scale-up. You can build a specific solution, knowing that someone else is developing the other pieces of the full platform. We encourage established companies and startups to innovate faster by building one piece of the puzzle in a UALink-based platform, without needing to create the entire system themselves.” – Nafea Bshara (AWS)

Later in the day, Kurtis Bowman, UALink Consortium Board Chair, moderated the “Networking Panel: Transformative Advancements in Ethernet, Photonics, & Optical – Speed, Performance, & Cost Tradeoffs.” The panel included experts from Amphenol, Celestial, Drivenets, and Microsoft and sparked valuable discussion around the latest networking innovations, including UALink, and the tradeoffs organizations face in balancing performance and cost as AI infrastructure scales.

Connecting with Attendees at the UALink Booth

Throughout the Summit, attendees stopped by the UALink Consortium booth to learn more about the Consortium and explore new possibilities for AI applications built on UALink technology. The booth provided a space for valuable conversations with industry leaders, researchers, and practitioners, highlighting the momentum around building open, scalable AI networks. We also featured numerous member company support videos in our booth, highlighting why our members joined the Consortium. The videos are available to view on our website.

The AI Infra Summit 2025 was an exciting opportunity for UALink to showcase its role in advancing high-performance AI infrastructure. We’re grateful to the organizers, our fellow panelists, and everyone who joined us for the discussions and booth visits.

We hope to see you at our upcoming industry event activities! Visit our website to learn more about our next event.
